Boycott Sinclair

NEW YORK -- The conservative-leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group, whose television outlets reach nearly a quarter of the nation's homes with TV, is ordering its stations to preempt regular programming just days before the Nov. 2 election to air a film that attacks Sen. John F. Kerry's activism against the Vietnam War, network and station executives familiar with the plan said Friday.

[LA Times, 10/9/04]

When CBS tried to air "The Reagans" on their network, conservatives across the country threatened to boycott CBS advertisers if the movie ran. CBS caved and yanked the film.

When Michael Moore tried to place advertising for the F-9/11 dvd, CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox refused to take the ads. Those networks are represented among Sinclair's affiliates.

When "Nightline" aired the names and information of all US soldiers who have been killed in Iraq, Sinclair pulled "Nightline" off their affiliates for the night.

Airing a blatantly partisan film that attacks a specific candidate, as scheduled content, over PUBLIC AIRWAYS is against FCC regulations and FEC election law.

Electioneering Restrictions and Disclosure Under The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), state: "funds from corporations (whether nonprofit or for-profit entities) and unions may not be used to pay for 'electioneering communications', which are broadcast, cable, or satellite communications that:

- refer to a clearly identified Federal candidate;

- are broadcast within 60 days before the general election of the candidate or within 30 days before the party primary, convention, or caucus that nominates the candidate;

- are targeted to the "relevant electorate," i.e., over 50,000 persons in the State or district that the candidate seeks to represent.

Exemptions are provided for news stories, commentaries, editorials, and candidate debates and forums. BCRA gives the FEC authority to make additional exemptions, so long as they do not promote, support, attack, or oppose a Federal candidate."

Please let Sinclair Broadcasting know that they are operating outside of the law, and that you will boycott any advertiser who supports their efforts.

Or contact the Sinclair station near you. Go to the Sinclair Station List to find the station in your area!

Also - CONTACT YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE! The airwaves that Sinclair uses are the property of the American people. Your representative in Washington (who is now running for reelection) owes it to YOU to manage those airwaves responsibly. Call them up and make them do their job. Plus, this is a great issue for a local democrat who needs a campaign jolt. Just think of the photo op! Also, contact John McCain - he went after Sinclair when they refused to air the Nightline broadcast. Or you can reach out to Michael Powell, FCC Chairman.

- Find your Representative here: House Reps.
- Contact John McCain: McCain
- FCC Chairman Powell: FCC Powell

The mainstream media has ceded their responsibility for responsible journalism in this election. It's up to us - average people - to hold their feet to the fire.

The original information about this story, came from bloggers at The Daily Kos - an amazing community of passionate people who are keeping the media honest in this election. JillR - an intrepid Daily Kos member - broke this story. We owe it to her and all of the real people in this country to make sure Sinclair does NOT illegally sway this election.

Thanks.

I called and spoke to the general manager of the station when the Nightline fiasco hit. He is quite easy to get transferred to as it is a small station but an NBC affiliate in a 300,000+ market.

I'm going to put together a list of local advertisers as I see them over the weekend. That's gonna be a lot more tv time than I'd prefer but it's gotta happen.

I think that those who advertise durring this Kerry bashing program are fair game for a boycott. Those who contact Sinclair asking not to be a part of it should be left alone.

A plus would be to ask regular advertisers on these stations to release a announcement to the public that they have asked Sinclair not to make them a part of this
and scold them for doing it.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but shouldn't the last sentence read (adding "not" between does and illegally):

"We owe it to her and all of the real people in this country to make sure Sinclair does not illegally sway this election."

(Don't have a Sinclair affiliate around me but will gladly join in the boycott . . . )

I called and left a message for Shapiro.

In summary I said, Sinclair can broadcast whatever it likes about Kerry if it's true. But preempting other programming to broadcast something negative before the election looks like electionaeering.

I further went on to say that I would be happy to participate in promoting a boycott of Sinclair advertiser on my radio show Collective Interest, http://CollectiveInterest.net.

I also mentioned DailyKos.

very hard to find a list of advertisers... the stations consider it proprietary.

however, if you go to their websites, they usually give advertisers added value there - banners, promotions, etc.

Ad buys are public record, at least if you go to the particular television station. The station can charge you for photocopying fees, but you should be able to ask to look at their books with no trouble. (I and another person from the Kerry campaign did so here in Springfield, Mo.)

If you can find someone on the ground in each of the cities where Sinclair has a station, have the person (or two or three, as backup is comforting) go out on Monday) and politely ask to see the ad buys for October, for example. Any local political campaign should be able to give further advice.

I think our boycott letters should only demand fair debate --- a showing of "Going Upriver" at the same time the prior or following night. That's what we want. Otherwise, we have to justify censorship, and I can't do that. And in the public sphere, neither can we.

I think you should call for a national boycott of Sinclair's national advertisers as well. Less vulnerable, yes, but more image-conscious. And get MoveOn on it. And contact shareholders: I think the Smiths own the controlling block of shares, but the stock is in a nosedive and they just restated 3Q earnings downward. Instead of a whispering campaign, let's make it a shouting campaign: This company is proposing to piss off at least half of its potential audience, if the electorate is as evenly divided and attentive as they say. Is this any way to maximize shareholder value?

Okay, I talk a big game, I know! Just an idea. I'll do what I can to help.

One tactic is to protest new Sinclair TV broadcasting licenses. I use this search of all FCC TV broadcast applications to find broadcasting applications by WGME in Portland, ME, a Sinclair-owned station:
http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/p ubacc/prod/app_list.pl?Facility_id=25683

If Sinclair takes out an application for a TV broadcast license, I will sending comments to the FCC protesting the application.

Sinclair Broadcasting already spent two weeks airing vicious conservative attacks and lies on Kerry's Vietnam era experience in Mark Hyman's "The Point" during local news casts. Vicious attacks and lies against one federal candidate with no opportunity for the candidate to respond isn't commentary - it's a blatant attempt by a corporation to influence an election.

I think it's wrong that Michael Moore isn't being allowed to buy commercials to promote Fahrenheit 9/11 during this month before the election.

I think it's wrong that the freepers forced CBS to yank The Reagans off the year.

I think it's wrong when the religious right boycott advertisers because of sexual content in television shows.

I think it's wrong when right wingers argue that boycotts (against companies because they advertise during shows that they believe are offensive) aren't attacks on free speech.

I think it's wrong that all the major media in this country are controlled by basically 5 companies and that there is a lot of bias against Democrats and liberals.

I think it's wrong that the equal time standards were abolished during the Reagan area, because it is a betrayal of the public trust.

But I also think this is a bad idea, too.

I firmly believe in free speech. I firmly believe that no one should lose their job, liberties or life because of something they said, wrote or implied. I firmly believe that Fox News Corporation has the right to lie. I firmly believe that the Swift Boat Veterans are Truth are lying and despicable, but that they should have the right to express their opinions (though the media should have addressed the fact that their stories conflicted with prior statements and the facts in the Navy's files. I firmly believe that The New York Times, and especially Judith Miller, are more responsible for 1,000 plus soldiers dying in Iraq than anyone in the Bush Administration because they allowed it to happen in order to retain access (through the embedment program) and expand through Mr. Powell's machinations on the FCC panel.

Anyone who would sign on to this movement...is someone that I consider a friend of mine. Because we all hate what's going on. But this campaign is wrong. We lose everything we hold dear by trying to copycat people that try to suppress thoughts and words.

Instead of starting a boycott...I'd rather we raise hell about the hypocracy involved. How about a campaign to get them to show the George Butler movie, Fahrenheit 9/11 or Triumph of the Will (with Bush digitally inserted).

On my website, I sometimes write things that other people would consider outrageous, unpatriotic or even seditious. I've received many hate mails from Repuglicans. What scares me most about Bush is that our freedom of speech is in jeopardy. What do Scott Petersen, Martha Stewart and Lynn Stewart have in common? They have all been persecuted for words that they have said (though petersen might be guilty...he was only arrested because the police taped his conversations and slanted the contents of his conversations).

I'm sorry for not being supportive of this movement. But as a capital L liberal...I can't.

It's almost like the Ralph Nader thing. I'm a hardcore Kerry supporter and I wish Ralph would pull out...but I'm ashamed at all the Democrats who are working to contest his signatures etc.

We shouldn't be like the bad guys.

Peace, friends

Why Are We Back In Iraq?

Something that you might want to consider as well is contacting the political RSO's of college campuses nearby, especially if they are Pro-Kerry or Democratic. Since the three stations in IL are nowhere near me, and, I don't have a car, letting these people know what's going on in their backyards might prove fruitful. I'm going to try anyway.....

I just wonder what all of the people feel about Michael Moore's desire to air his "documentary" prior to the election.
It seems to me that it is a corrupt society that bases so much of its opinion on what people who may not share your core beliefs say.
Perhaps your country is not as great as you profess. A "democracy" that is made up of people who need media to decide what is best for them are intellectually inept.
How long until Bart Simpson becomes your president simply because your corrupt media tells yo he is best?

Which is why we should start emailing and phoning the Wall Street analysts who cover Sinclair and explain to them how their latest stunt (See here) will utterly the company's good will and value. It just so happens that I've found a list of those analysts:

Boyle, James of Wachovia Securities
Butson, Sean of Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc.
Marcus, Andrew of Deutsche Bank Securities
Meyers, William of Lehman Brothers
Miller, Victor of Bear Stearns

Comment on Boycott Proposals.

Not a bad idea in themselves, but they take awhile to kick in and time is short. One rapid response would be to take out full-page newspaper ads in all the markets covered by Sinclair stations just before the scheduled broadcast. The thrust of the ads would be the incestuous relationship between Sinclair and the GOP, demonstrating the former's partisan agenda, etc..

Good Afternoon.

I just wanted to add that MediaMatter.org has some information on Carlton Sherwood who produced this film or whatever he is trying to call it. It has already been discredited.
There is also information on Sherwood. He worked for Tom Ridge when he was governor and has been tapped by Bush to create and manage a new federal website for first responders.
This link http://www.fair.org/views.html will take you to mediamatters.org where I found the informtion on Sherwood.
Just wanted to share.
Maybe it would serve better to hit them from this angle and show the ties to the Republican party before the film airs and discredit the information in it.
Someone said earlier if we fight them showing it, we look like we have something to hide.
What's in it is a lie. That's been proven. Show that these people have an axe to grind. Partisan politics.

LOL at some of today's suggestions.

I've already written the Tampa Station and demanded that they (1) Withdraw it, (2) Run 911 just before or after, or (3) Face a Boycott of their sponsors and station. So I guess I vote for 9/11, lol.

On the investor front, been there, done that. Same content as the letter to the station, plus a promise to sell their stock short beginning Friday, a promise to start calling their advertisers by phone the same day to urge them to express their opinion to the station as well, a promise to buy 1 share and attend their next shareholder meeting, and a final promise to begin emailing the mutual fund companies that they list as owners of their stock to express my concern [see any "insitutional holders" list on any stock web site.]

The investor relations email for the entire company is " investor@sbgi.net "

And I then copied those letters to everyone in my address book.

I did some more digging and found the names & contact information for the Wall Street analysts who cover Sinclair's stock. These are the guys who study the company's business moves and issue research reports telling investors whether to buy or sell (ok, more like whether to buy a little or buy a lot).

Tell the analysts that there is a problem with this company's continual courting of controversy. Investors *HATE* controversy. And a boycott once a quarter for a stupid move like this means unreliable revenue and unreliable earnings. I.e., unreliable profits for investors. Investors will steer clear if the analysts suggest the stock is risky and e-mails from people like us saying we'll stay away from the product and scare away its advertisers will make it a clear risk.

So, thanks to google and some other companies in the same sector for their handy phone numbers & email addresses :)

Go for the boycott (not equal time, this gives their lies credibility)! "F.911" and "Going Upriver" are not baseless hachet jobs. This movie will be, believe me.

Don't let them snag you with any freedom of speech arguments. Tell them they can air anything they like, including this hour long commercial, but only after the election. If they do it before the votes are counted, promise them they will lose viewers, advertisers and $$. That's the only way to stop this thing!

We don't have much time to loose folks. SINclair must be prevented from carrying out this gross act of partisanship. And the only music these Corporate dummies are used to is the sweet sound of MONEY. Let the Advertisers know that their product shall be boycotted indefinitely if SINclair goes ahead with its plan.

This is the time for everyone to get out in the street and protest. If you do not like the news go out and make some of your own. The only effetive way is for people to boycott the products that sinclair advertises. we , the people, need to stand up and march on Sinclair, a million person march, and we need to show difinitive disregard for the the products that Sinclair advertises. we need to do so immmediately so that thsi technique of mass electionism is painted on BUSH.

HE LIED TO US ABOUT IRAQ, AND NOW HIS FRIENDS WANT TO HELP COVER IT UP.

I live in chicago, and am happy to help coordinate and finance a protest.

At October 11, 2004 at 1:34 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

My neighbor, a Republican, asked me why are we so afraid of this after all the things we have published about Bush. He can't understand what could be any worse than Michael Moore's F 9-11's version of Bush.
So, after thinking about it, I realized he has a point.

What ARE we afraid of?
Isn't it time this is all put to rest once and for all?
What if Kerry wants to run for a second term, isn't this all going to come up again?
If we oppose this after F.9=11 and everything else that has been unfavorable to Bush, won't we look like we are afraid it says something truthful that will damage his chances of winning?
I say STOP running and stand firm. Kerry has nothing to hide.
Let's just get it over with and get on with the election.
End the lies and deceit and let the truth be known. They will bury themselves with the worst backlash they have ever seen. Stop looking like we are afraid.

At October 11, 2004 at 2:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hmm... I think that it's not a question of fear, or of concern that this will negatively affect Kerry's election chances. What it really is about is ethics and control. If we allow Corporations such as Sinclair to begin this, where does it stop? Would it be acceptable, in the future, for broadcasting companies to dominate our airwaves with, say, a "news" story on the importance of rounding up Arab-Americans before the Patriot Act II comes up for a vote? Or for them to pre-empt broadcasting to run a news story on the foolishness of Pro-Lifers before a Supreme Court nomination? This is about control. We cannot allow ANY of this to start, from either side.

The big difference between F 9-11 and this, is that you had to actually go to the theater and pay to see the movie in a private theater. This is public airwaves, free (government tax-subsidized) networks, being beamed directly into peoples homes. When you choose to own a company in a regulated, public, industry, you accept certain responsibilites. This is one of those cases.

At October 11, 2004 at 2:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think the difference is that people paid to see F 9/11, this is being aired into people's homes on the public's airwaves, can you imagine the outrage that the concervatives would be creating if CBS planned to air Moore's film on its stations prior to the election. A broadcaster can't do that, if they want to, they need to buy one of those cable channels to do it with - it is different when it is on pay tv and on the public airwaves.

And if F9/11 were being put on public airwaves all the concervatives would be calling Sinclair Advertiseres to boycott them, so we should do the same, here's the list I've got so far:

Sent this message to the advertisers GM and Geico who's advertisments appear on the San Antonio's Sinclair affiliates website.

To whom it may concern,

I recently viewed a Geico advertisement on the Sinclair Broadcasting affiliate’s KRRT- San Antonio website.

Please be aware that Sinclair is making an unprecedented decision to force all their affiliates to air a politically charged, partisan movie that looks at the Vietnam issue from one perspective, without providing equal time to an alternate view of this same subject. (see LA times article: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-na-sinclair9oct09,1,4817545.story?)

We all know that this area of discussion has always been deeply divisive and that there are two very different opinions from each side with facts that support both views.

Be aware that by advertising with Sinclair affiliates you are placing yourself in the path of a equally unprecedented boycott of all advertisers that do business with this company.

Please contact the main Sinclair office at 410 568-1500 and inquire why they have chosen to alienate viewership from their advertisers by taking a one-sided and unbalanced partisan stand during this hotly contested political election.

Thank You,

John-Paxton Gremillion

It seems to work for them just fine so WHY SHOULDN'T IT WORK FOR US?!! To have SINclair run amock without any fear of retaliation is exactly the kinda thing they have come to expect from us (sorry guys... we are way too nice... and now we are actually having to invest time and intellect to remove Dub-ya... sad).

PS Mr. Kerry, if you are listening... pls speak up, My dear MAN... we can only shout so much! Bush talks about denigrating his allies... What about those thousand who perished on 9/11... what about their souls? Don't they feel denigrated when their death was used as a petty excuse to settle old score, to fill the wallet of Bush's cronies...

I think it is very important that we continue this past the current emergency. We must protest each and every license renewal for Sinclair. Unlike CBS which treasures a reputation for fairness, organizations like Sinclair and Fox have no shame about their blatant partisanism. Such people have NO business holding broadcast licenses which are held in trust for the public -- that's all the public, not the Republican public. If the FCC means anything it cannot allow Fox News-esque partisanism to take hold in broadcast. It's anti-american. In Russia and Saudia Arabia, tv stations are expected to blatantly support the government, in this country they are expected to be fair. Sinclair has violated the public trust, thus it no longer deserves to be a trustee.

Americans like to stand up for the freedoms of this country only when it seems convenient. It is easy to defend the right to free speech when people are saying all the things with which we agree. The powers behind Sinclair show how little they regard the real freedom of speech. They are angry people who believe that spewing lies and hatred will not only make them happy but draw other Americans in to their fight. If they really supported free speech, they would show this program and follow it with one that refutes it. Better yet, they'd leave the whole issue alone and encourage people to get away from their boob tubes and get active in their communities.

If the story is false, Kerry can go after them. If the story is true, then we all ought to know about it. I don't understand how everyone can howl and scream over a supposed hatchet job against John Kerry by Sinclair, but two hatchet jobs against George Bush by CBS News gets a yawn and a pass (the document forgeries and the draft scare story). I guess it's all about perspective. CBS, NBC and ABC are biased in one direction while paying lip service to fairness. Sinclair is biased the other way but is honest about their leanings. Which one is worse? I say, CBS, NBC and ABC are much worse.

Therefore, let Sinclair broadcast what they want based on their beliefs about the public good, or prevent all networks and corporations from injecting their opinions into elections and presenting them as facts. Screaming about Sinclair without doing the same about ABC, NBC and CBS is just plain hypocritical.

At October 12, 2004 at 1:14 PM, Blogger whiteline said...

How is the "draft scare" a hatchet job? It is perfectly reasonable to consider conscription as an option when our forces are drawn down and spread thin. This is not "anti-bush", just a father worried about his son. Furthermore, the forged document to which you refer may still reference factual material. This would be easily rebutted if George released ALL of his military records, or (dare I say it?) stood up and told us about it.

This is the letter I am writing to my local Sinclair owned channels:

Dear Sinclair and Affiliate,

I am writing in protest of your consideration to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," a program which the producers themselves label, "A documentary exposing John Kerry's record of Betrayal" (http://www.stolenhonor.com/).

Even considering to air this content, and potential discussion under the auspice of news, 30 days before an election and 30 years after the events tool place explains your politics well.

Fortunately we live in a free market. And though, I respect freedom of speech and the right to expression, I do not support your point of view.

And based on your politically charged and polarizing programming decision, I, and thousands of others hereby commit to the following:

--boycotting all of your television stations (listed below),
--boycotting all of your advertisers' products and services (parital list below), and
--informing your advertisers of plans to do so.

It is a free country and free market. And I will neither support your politics, or your business model.

I agree that we should boycott the sponsors of this program. This company has declared itself rightwing and any number of petitions and protests won't make a difference. But if we band together and form a boycott of these advertisers they will withdraw their support and Sinclair will be forced to pull the "documentary". No company can afford to lose their sponsors, especially the big ones. This is going to require alot of people, but if we get the word out we can make a real difference.

I just got the following email from an advertiser on KMWB, Sinclair's Minneapolis station:

Thank you for your concern regarding the actions of the Sinclair Broadcast Group. We had no prior knowledge of the political stance of SBG and their local affiliate, KMWB23, when we placed our advertising dollars. It is not our intention to support this kind of political indecency. As a result of their insistence in airing "Stolen Hour," we have sent the following letter to the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Dear Sir:

As an advertiser on your Minneapolis affiliate, KMWB23, we are appalled at Sinclair Broadcasting Group's lack of corporate citizenship in the mandatory broadcasting of "Stolen Hour."

The deliberate support of any candidate over another candidate has no place in media programming governed by FCC regulations. It is the obligation of FCC license holders to present a balanced approach to broadcasting. Notice the word balanced, not the word unbiased. Offering Senator John Kerry a chance for rebuttal on your "documentary" is not a legitimate use of balanced reporting.

It is our intention to cease advertising with your affiliate unless actions are taken by the Sinclair Broadcast Group to establish and maintain fair and balanced viewpoints in programming.

Sincerely,
Scott and Debra Rosenthal
Owners
Carroll's Furniture, Inc.

Hurrah! Not exactly a big company but every one helps.

On all the contacts for Sinclair, go for their 800 NUMBERS if you can find them.

Check online for specific companies and affiliates that you wish to contact, and see if they have an 800 NUMBER first.

This way you will be making Sinclair pay to hear to tell them what you think rather than you having to pay to speak your mind.

This is very good for both long distance and your local affiliates. Instead of calling the local toll free number call the local affiliate on their 800 number.

If you can't find the necessary 800 number, go ahead and call the regular numbers listed.

Also, go for the FAX contact, if you computer has a fax function and most of them do any more, it won't cost you very much if anything depending on your long distance plan, but it will cost Sinclair for the paper in their FAX machines.

Make them pay for their crimes right up front!

Today I've been writing to local Tallahassee businesses that advertise with WTWC NBC40, the Sinclair-owned station in this market. My letter simply informs them of what Sinclair is doing, links to the LATimes article, and asks them to pull their advertising.

Guess what? Jason Shoaf of Keller Williams Town & Country Realty has already pulled his advertising! Here's a bit from his letter:

"I strive to excel in all that I do and hope that you will understand my shock when I learned that Sinclair has done this. I had no idea when I chose to advertise with the local NBC 40 that they would do this. [...] In light of this information, I will not be advertising with Sinclair any more. I called my advertising agent earlier this evening and they will be pulling my advertising effective immediately."

Right on Jason Shoaff! Send him much love at jasonshoaf@kw.com. And keep it up y'all!

I don't understand all the commotion. If Kerry’s conduct were becoming of a professional service man, then he and his supporters don’t have anything to worry about, right? If "Stolen Honor" is a true documentary then all of us are in store for an enlightenment of John Kerry’s commendable actions following his return from Vietnam.
Now, if “Stolen Honor” utilizes a “Fahrenheit 9/11” definition of documentary, then okay, we may have another issue of the political bi-partisanship.
But, what if “Stolen Honor” contains factual information about John Kerry’s conduct relating to influencing the psychological demeanor of the enemy during the Vietnam War? Will a Kerry supporter comprehend it as a political attack or perceive the information in a tolerant manner? What if the same veterans that have been attempting to show the lack integrity that John Kerry exhibited after his tour in Vietnam for the past three decades are finally getting the opportunity to show their goods, what will you do then? Stick to your guns regardless of factual information, or open your narrow-politically influenced mind and modify the way you think, regardless of your political party? Probably not, most of us have already made up our minds about whom we will vote for come November 2nd, along with which media, networks, and politically driven documentaries are biased without acknowledgement to the actual facts.

I emailed Fazoli's as an advertiser on my local Sinclair affiliate. Here's the response:

"Thank you for your e-mail.
We are aware of the situation regarding Sinclair Broadcasting and their affiliate stations. As an organization, we do not support any particular political party or candidate. As part of our media practice, we regularly evaluate where and when our advertising appears on all television stations.

Our current media plans do not include advertisements on Sinclair affiliates during the period of time that includes October 21-24, when the program in contention is proposed for broadcast. If and when the program airs we will review our future relationship and planned business with Sinclair's affiliates.

Thank you for sharing how you feel about this issue. We value your feedback and your patronage."

Poor liberals. where was your indignation over the CBS fake memo story or the 6o minutes reports on joe wilson and richard clarke allegations, all of which have been proven to be false? farenheit 911 gets awards and non-stop adulation and praise, but stolen honor should be banned? I guess its typical anti-american liberalism - diverse and tolerant, unless you dont agree with "us". just a few thoughts on the left-slant of the news media: where is the coverage of US/Bush ally john howard's re-election? you know if he had lost it would be front page news. where is the coverage of the UN oil for food bribery of france russia and germany? any wonder they would not join the coalition. this is a waste of time, and unlike most of you democrats, I have to get back to work.

Whatever Sinclair puts on the air will be completely blown out of the water by Frontline's "The Choice 2004".

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/choice2004/

It is a parallel chronology of the lives of the two candidates. Very factual. The noise machine hates it. Just look in the discussion area at the PBS site.

See also Martin Smith's on-line chat at the Washington Post today. More then half of the questions answered are from conservatives who didn't like what they saw.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28106-2004Oct12.html?nav=most_emailed

The question that is being begged here is does real journalism qualify for the same consumer sanctions as Sinclair's smear content? Bet a lot of conservatives think so. But they are wrong as usual.

Stolen Honor is about people whose feelings were hurt because a man told the truth. If they are so honorable, why are they now engaged in dishonorable tactics? Does honor wear off after a while? My take is that they were never that honorable in the first place, and they are seeking some kind of public recognition for what they should know in their hearts about what they did or did not do.

SIMPLER BOYCOTT! The public needs to protest Sinclair Broadcasting's decision to air the Kerry hit piece. And while calling the FCC may do some good by the next election, it won't do anything right now.

But we can hurt them by boycotting Sinclair's local news programs. The local stations depend on their local news for a large share of their revenue. This will hurt the locals and force them to protest their owners.

It's easy. Just tell people not to watch Sinclair's local news; just switch to a different local station for their weather report. Best to call the locals to let them know why their numbers are dropping.

Then we watch the Arbitron numbers drop, along with Sinclair's revenues.

Please send this out far and wide!

It is 2:46 A.M. and in 15 minutes the third debate will take place. The last 2 hours I have been proud once again to call myself an american. The pride comes from the intense mobilization of concerned americans to tackle the corrupt tactics employed by the SINclair traitors. These last four years so many ex-pats in europe have watched an erosion of objective, honest and unbiased news coming out of the u.s. We see another Irak on our news programs....one that most americans never have the chance to see. Maybe now through the grace of the internet people will unite and organize to voice their contempt to what is happening in America and in the World. Bush and his cronies have destroyed so much credibility that the U.S.A. once enjoyed in the world. It is the hope of myself and so many other ex-pats in europe that with the election of John Kerry it will be ok to call yourself an american once again.
John Kerry served with distinction in Vietnam, yet came back to say WE WERE LIED TO, THE WAR WAS WRONG. Then I think of a famous quote by Thomas Jefferson...."DISSENT IS THE HIGHEST FORM OF PATRIOTISM". John Kerry is the true american and we should be proud of him.

The pressure on the advertisers seems to be working. Yesterday the companies who sent reply emails back to me about my emails seemed like they were not really concerned. Todays reply emails have an entirely different tone. They advertisers seem concerned and are pulling thier ads, re-evaluating thier ad strategy or promising not to air any ads during the show. There are of course those hold outs who have not seen the light yet. I have emailed all the national and my local companies that advertise with Sinclair. If each of us does that we are going to win. Most of the companies seem to be at the point where a continued effort will cause them to pull the ads. Keep the pressure on!!!!

Your post is great and let me say

A favorite pastime of mine is Sports Betting to make a few extra bucks.
My only problems is that I was never good at picking teams or games.
Recently I found a site that is like Sports Betting but I dont lose my money if my pick is bad.

Its a sports stock market, kinda like NASDAQ. which makes a big difference because if I buy shares in a team. I keep the stock whether they win or lose, but as a bonus I get paid divdends if they win.
So I can make money with dividends and also from selling high and buying low.

I buy shares in NFL, NASCAR, NCAAB, MLB, Golf, Tennis ect....
They just released Some Great IPOS's this week!

Heres a link http://allsportsmarket.com

Keep up the good work on your blog!

Hi,

I want to tell you something about making money.

Today I decided that enough is enough. I wanted to get past the scams. Not only for myself, but for anyone who is like me.

Can you make money on the Internet....... Yes, but it won't be easy.
If I say make money I mean enough money to live a comfortable life, I don't mean millions. It is true that people make millions on the internet but do you think after reading one eBook you can too? I'm sorry but that is not going to happen.

If you think my site will show you how to make a million in one month, sorry I can't help you there. If you think ANY web site can show you how to make a million in one month, believe me it's better to take your money to a casino. You WILL have better luck there.

I will tell you what my site is about. My site is about making money together.
I it is easier to make money with a group of people than to do it on your own.
Why? Because you can't know everything. Imagine a group of 100 people with knowledge of the Internet helping you to make money on Internet! Don't you think you have a better chance of making money? If you decide not too join, you will miss out on the best opportunity you had for a long time and for a long time to come.

If you are interested please visit:
http://www.mdb-marketing.com

Let me know what you think about this idea.

Regards,

Michel
PS I hope you don't mind me posting a comment on your Blog.
I want to go past all those scams!

Hi,

I just across sites and found that your Blogs are amazing.

Do you know, your blog can generate extra income by posting Google Adsense? If you ever know about Adsense, you understand to get hundreds of dollar per month is not an easy way. One of the most important is to generate massive traffic.

Few days ago, I found a very useful software that will generate hundreds of back links to our website. Do you know why back links is so important to generate traffic?
Yes, you are right! back links will jump up your position in search engine! If your position gets higher from day to day, you'll find your traffic increase significantly as well.

That software is Blog Link Generator!

This software so powerful. You even do not need to create links directory in your site. Is that sound good? You put your link in other's website, but you never put a link back to their site?

Visit www.LinkInBlog.com now and I so confident you'll never sorry.

Vacations
by: make money r site web

While Paris, England, or Germany offers excitement,
they also cost money to visit. Unfortunately, people
on a regular basis forget about the United States and
even the very state in which they live. One man had
lived in Arizona his entire life. At age 50, when asked
by a friend what the Grand Canyon was like, he was unable
to answer because he had never been there. The next time
you get ready to plan your family vacation, look around
where you live and consider an exciting road trip that
will not only be educating but cost effective. A vacation
does not have to be expensive to be fun and memorable.
